The afternoon tea

Happy Sunday my darlings,

Don't you just love those laid back weekend afternoons where you have absolutely nothing to worry about? Especially after a long and hard week, I believe I'm not the only one who takes a book in my hand and takes time to just sit there, enjoy every page of a new book from the library. Suddenly, you start to feel like the girl from a perfect picture: your hair is up in a messy bun, you have a pair of glasses on and a book in your hands while it's raining outside. Later on, you put the book away, stand up, go and look outside the window. No thinking. Just staring at the window while the rain drops fall heavily. It's the kind of weather that locks you up in the house without any intention of going out and socialising with the world.

Lately, I've been enjoying my company more than I was before. It's that time of my life where I can be on my own without feeling lonely and unwanted. A lot of people these days seem to be afraid of the word "loneliness" and it's starting to get sad. They will do anything in their power not to be alone. They'll go out and be with a bunch of random people they don't know or they'll meet up with the fake friends, you know, the kind that remembers you only on your good days. It almost sounds as if they're running from someone. They are running from themselves.

We should all embrace the self-being afternoons or any other time of the day and really start taking the time on ourselves for a moment without being called selfish..

  1. For a couple of years, I lived alone. I loved it. It was nice to just sit in quite. Read or be crafty. Everyone should enjoy being alone. It is a time to reflect on ones self.

Since I started blogging and trying to promote my blog a lot more online, I feel like I'm being selfish. I am taking time away from my husband to focus on this on top of working full-time.

    1. There's nothing wrong with trying your best at succeeding something with hard work, but that's when job and loved ones are asking you to pick one of them. You just have to find the balance between these two so you don't have to sacrifice one or another.

  5. I can so relate to this post. One of my intentions for 2017 was to slow down a bit (or a lot) and enjoy my days more. It's working (for the most part) .. although I had to really be brutal about cutting some things out of my life. I will say it's made a world of difference. I feel far more peaceful in my soul.

I agree as there are times when I was single that being by yourself was a blessing. Now its just finding those moments when I can have some me time when you have younger kids.

  10. My me time is in the spa tub. I get a cold drink, some sweet or salty snacks, and my iPad. I can soak for hours, while watching a good movie. I rarely had time for myself while the kids were growing up. Now that they are all adults, I have no problem carving out time for total relaxation!

  12. Sundays are definitely my "me" time. I stay in my pajamas, catch up on shows I recorded through the week, take a nice bubble bath, and of course...sleep.
